Our approach to the curriculum ensures that our academy complies with it's duties to the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Regulations 2014. The curriculum is accessible for those with disabilities or special educational needs and careful thought has gone into mapping out how to ensure we are equally aspirational for ALL pupils.

What is the Cornerstones Curriculum?

The curriculum at Little Gonerby CE Primary Academy is aimed to inspire and excite pupils through the Cornerstones curriculum which is broad and balanced, knowledge and skills rich and provides a clear pedagogy.

The Cornerstones Curriculum is a broad and balanced, knowledge-rich curriculum.  Its content is delivered through a range of subject-specific projects, which last either a full or half term.  Subject specific projects cover art and design, design and technology, geography, history and science.  It is based on a comprehensive skills and knowledge progression framework is expertly interconnected and can be fully adapted to meet the needs of our school.

The Cornerstones Curriculum is underpinned by a four-stage pedagogy: Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express.  With this child-centred approach at its heart, the Cornerstones Curriculum puts children's wellbeing and natural curiosity first, enabling them to learn through a positive and well-rounded approach.

The curriculum is underpinned by a comprehensive skills and knowledge framework that builds upon national curriculum programmes of study.  The framework provides clear subject endpoints, including key concepts, aspects, knowledge and skills, to support teaching and help children make great progress.
