Pastoral Support (Anti-Bullying, ELSA, Mental Health & Wellbeing)

At Little Gonerby School, we are committed to promoting the school values of compassion, respect and honesty to reject bullying behaviour and promote social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing.

We are committed to be a place where our whole school community feels safe and supported to flourish.

This dedicated page to anti-bullying and wellbeing is intended to provide you with the resources you need to help your family be more equipped in these important areas.

ELSA

Mrs Fraser is our school ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant). An ELSA is a trained member of school staff who helps children develop their emotional understanding and wellbeing. Through gentle, structured sessions, ELSAs support children in recognising and managing feelings, building confidence, improving social skills, and coping with challenges such as anxiety, friendship difficulties, or changes at home or school, such as bereavement, loss and family separation.

For primary-aged children, these early skills are essential. Learning how to express emotions, solve problems, and build positive relationships can have a lasting impact on both their happiness and their ability to learn. ELSA sessions provide a safe, nurturing space where children feel listened to and supported, helping them grow in confidence and resilience.

By supporting emotional development alongside academic learning, ELSA helps children feel more settled, engaged, and ready to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

If you would like more information about ELSA and the benefits for your child, please speak to the school office and Mrs Fraser will make contact with you.
