Computing

Computing

This Y2 project organises Barefoot Computing at School lessons and resources to teach children about the use of technology, how to stay safe online, basic programming skills and how to use data.

Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.

Children will

  • know where and how to report concerns and get support with issues online.
  • Know how to be a discerning consumer of information online including understanding that information, including that from search engines, is ranked, selected and targeted
  • Know why social media, some computer games and online gaming, for example, are age restricted.
  • Know the rules and principles for keeping safe online, how to recognise risks, harmful content and contact, and how to report them.
  •

Knowledge

  • Some websites are not age-appropriate and so it is important to tell a trusted adult about any concerns or worries.

Skill(s)

  • Stay safe online by choosing websites that are appropriate to visit (based on the confidence you have in the author(s) of the website) and know where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet and other online technologies.
