The purpose of 'cursive' writing is that it should help children to join their letters with greater ease, accuracy and neatness at an earlier age.
When practising with your child it is useful to remember that the traditional letter format remains the same, with simply the 'ski slope' added to the beginning.
Below is an example of cursive handwriting.
If you have any questions about this style of writing, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of the Reception Team.
The following video clearly shows how to form each letter correctly.
This is a cursive writing demonstration video showing how to write the letters of the alphabet. It models how to write the letters of the alphabet using cursive script. Cursive handwriting is commonly taught in schools across the world.
