Class 6: 2012-2013

               Welcome to Class 6!


We are one of the Reception Classes. Our teacher is Mrs Prestidge and Mrs Whitty is our Teaching Assistant.

We are also very lucky to have some students and parents who help us regularly throughout the week and on Monday afternoons Mrs Rigby is our teacher! 


December 2012


Wow! Christmas has come around fast and the children have been very busy practising the performance of 'Hosanna Rock'. All recpetion children joined in with the performance, singing songs and performing a little dance!

As a Church of England school we have been learning about the importance of Christmas and why christians celebrate it!

We have also been looking at different festivals and reception has learnt about the festival of light 'Diwali'.

October 2012


The children have settled well into school life. They have been making friends and developing their personal and social skills. We have been talking about the school code of conduct of 'Ressepct' and learning about the classroom rules.

The topic this term has been about 'ourselves' and we have had alovely time harvesting our vegetables in the school garden and making vegetable soup!!

The children have been practising writng their name and doing their coat up by themselves!

March 2013


We have been exploring our new outdoor area!!!


April 2013


We have had a busy term learning about the importance of Easter and discussing why Jesus died.

We had our church service to celebrate Easter where we sang two songs, one about the Easter bunny and the other about Jesus dying to save us all.



We moved onto learning about changes, especially in the environment! We have been learning about Spring and how things grow! We have planted flowers and vegetables in our new garden as well as watching our bean plants grow!!


We also looked at fairy tales starting with Jack and the Beanstalk moving onto Red Riding Hood! We wrote our own stories with different endings you can read them in our classroom!


We have been busy in all areas including doubling and halving in mathematics, mixing colours in art, dancing to different types of music out on the deck, learning to roll and move around the equipment safely in PE-we have been up to all sorts this term.
