We will be continuing our chocolate project this term but we will be exploring a new essential question. This term, we are trying to answer
'What is the secret of chocolate?'
We will begin by exploring the history of chocolate. We will be researching where it comes from, who discovered it and what ingredients go into making it.
During this first week we will also go on a trip to York to visit the Chocolate Story where we will look at the process behind making chocolate and also become chocolatiers ourselves! This will be our hook for the whole project and help us to get our minds thinking about the essential question.
We will be researching chocolate that is in the shops today. We will be looking at the designs, the prices and the variety and completing market research to find out which is the most popular and using this information for our tasks in weeks 3, 4 and 5. We will also be taste testing chocolate and talking about the similarities and differences, which will then influence our decisions when we make our own chocolate products.
Week 3, 4 and 5
During these final three weeks of the project, we will be very busy designing, making and presenting our chocolate products. We will use all of our market research to help us decide which will be the best chocolate products to make and also putting the skills that we learnt at the Chocolate Story into practise!
