This week we looked at open and closed questions. We explored what makes an open question and talked about questions we might like to ask God. We had to think about four 'Big Questions' that we would like to ask God if we could. What would you ask?
We had a fantastic time learning lots of circus skills this week.
We even got to watch the circus performance whilst enjoying popcorn! (We raised the money last term with our chocolate shop project outcome.)
We shared our project launch with the Year Two's however they missed the part where we learnt how to use the different equipment. In order to teach the Year Two's how to do the different circus skills, we made 'How To Guides'. We wanted them to be the best they could be so we came up with a rubric as a class and used critique and multiple drafting to help us produce an excellent guide.
This week we had to think about different aspects of the circus and we took on Miss Maclachlan's role as the teacher. We researched in groups and had to present our learning to the rest of our class. We found out about:
- How the people in the circus travel around
- How animals have been involved in the circus
- What different circus skills there are
- Where the circus came from
- Which games are associated with the circus and carnivals
In Maths we learnt how to write time digitally and how to order it in time order. This helped us write our own timetable of events for the circus!
We were so excited and lucky this week to have a face painting expert come in to school to show us how to do a clown face paint. Jessica very kindly offered to let Mrs Clawson model the face paint design on her so we could see it step by step. This helped us make a rubric based on what makes a good face paint design and we used this when we critiqued our first draft. We were able to look carefully at what we had included and what we could improve on our second draft. All of this practise will help us make a brilliant design which we are going to attempt on parents and friends next week!
Testing our face paint designs!
