Chair of the Governors – Clare Allen

I have been a governor at Little Gonerby Infant School for nearly 10 years now, joining when my second son was at the school. Both my children, Jacob 17 and Harry 16, are now at Kings School. I have worked at The Woodland Trust, an environmental charity with its head offices in Grantham, for 20 years having had a number of roles but currently responsible for all the charity’s supporters, which requires me to manage people, budgets and develop and deliver plans to retain and grow our supporter numbers and income.  I have also worked in local government and in the private sector. My background and my passion is in the environment - we only have one planet! When I became a governor I chaired the Finance and Resources Committee using my knowledge of working in a national charity to the full. I currently still sit on this committee but am now Chair of Governors. I really enjoy being Chair of Governors, working with other Governors and the teachers, helping to continually make Little Gonerby a special place for each and every child. My children loved the school and developed a great sense of learning whilst here.  My husband and I moved to Grantham when I took the job with The Woodland Trust and we all really enjoy living here. With two teenage children and our dog, Cody, a very lively Cockapoo, I spend much of my time managing logistics and travel arrangements or out and about on dog walks. But when I do get a few minutes to myself I like nothing more than a good book and a bar of chocolate!
