Chair of the Governors – Clare Allen
I have been a governor at Little Gonerby Infant School for over 2 years now, joining when my second little boy was at the school. Both my children are now at the National. I joined as a foundation governor as I felt that my skills and background may be of use. I have worked at the Woodland Trust, an environmental charity, with its head offices here in Grantham for nearly 14 years as head of the corporate fundraising team. My role requires me to manage people, budgets and develop and deliver plans to create partnerships with companies. I have also worked in local government and in the private sector. My background and my passion is in the environment - we only have one planet! As a governor at Little Gonerby I also chair the Finance and Resources Committee using my knowledge of working in a national charity to the full. I really enjoy being a governor and working with the teachers and other governors, helping to make the school a better place for each and every child. My children loved the school and developed a great sense of learning whilst here. This is my way of putting something back into our community. Me and my husband moved to Grantham when I took the job with the Woodland Trust and we all really enjoy living here. With two children I spend much of my time helping with homework, music practice and taxi-ing them from one activity to another! But when I do get a few moments to myself I like nothing more than a good book and a bar of chocolate!
